Where In The World Is DTB?

I quit Instagram, never post of Facebook, and barely check Twitter. However, I'm still here ladies, I've just been really super busy trying to deal with some real life issues. About my hair,  everything is still the same there. I am all about protective styling, right now with wigs. At some point in the summer, I may do some Marley braids. Wearing the wigs have sure made life easy, but I do still care for my hair. That's the main reason I won't get track sewed in, with the wigs I can wash, steam and moisturize as I feel to.

Ways To Keep Natural Hair Moisturized

I had a epiphany, and I just had to come by to share.

Short version is this: I grew my hair for three long years, but then had to get a major cut. The reason for the cut was breakage, a result of lack of moisture. So I contacted a few companies about reviewing there products in hopes of finding the so called PERFECT moisturizer. Surprisingly all the products worked well in my hair. Then I did a swap of a moisturizer, that didn't work for one lady, and no surprise that one worked on my hair also.

This caused me to step back, and reevaluated.

  1. In the beginning of my natural hair journey, I would buy a product labeled as a moisturizer, wet my hair with water then rub the product on my strands. However that didn't work!
  2. Then everybody told me about the L.O.C (Liquid, Oil, Cream) method. Which I relied on for over a year. The idea is to wet your hair, using a light oil on top (many recommend one that penetrates the strands), then seal with cream or a thick butter. However that didn't work!
  3. Then after watching countless Youtube channels, and reading a bunch of blogs. I thought I found my salvation in this method. Creamy leave in, followed by light oil, then a heavy sealant on top. However that didn't work!
Since my visit to the salon, something the stylist said stuck with me. Applying product to my hair, does nothing unless the product is "infused' into my strands. If you are my hair texture, and have been having a difficult time getting, moisturizers to "work". Give this routine a try once, and see if you get a better outcome.

  1. Wash or co wash you hair which ever you prefer.
  2. Apply some Scurl Curl Activator to your strands. (Don't skip this step)
  3. Saturate your hair with some leave in conditioner on top of that.
  4. Steam without a plastic cap, or sit under a hood blow dryer with a plastic cap for ten minutes. This step "infuses" the products in your hair.
  5. Seal with any moisturizer you have. If you like, use a bit of your favorite moisturizer on the ends before you steam.
If you are against using Scurl Activator, you will have to find another product that has super high amounts of glycerin. The bottom line is, don't write your moisturizer off as a fail just yet. Try the method above, and you may see a difference.

Wig As A Protective Style~Natural Hair

I changed wigs ladies.......

It took me a while, to go from the kinky natural hair wig, to this straight perm looking one I am rocking now. It is hard to get used to wearing straight hair. However, I am having lots of fun switching things up as I like. My next one will be curly and big!

Original Moxie Emollience Review

How many of you readers have ever heard of Original Moxie? I've heard bits and pieces about the brand, for the past two years. Most of the talk has been about Hair Bling, a styling product of Original Moxie that many naturals rave about. Still when I decided to browse Original Moxie's website, Emollience was the product that caught my eye. Mostly, due to it's fabulous ingredients and description. I contacted the owner Rachel, and told her of my dilemma. I couldn't decide between Emollience and, the oh so popular Hair Bling. Rachel suggested I go with Emollience, and am I ever glad I listened. Initial reaction: The jar arrive, and the first thing I notice was it's consistency.  It's similar to a pomade, but the ingredients are way better! By now you know I use hair products "my way".

On the package you are instructed to use Emollience as a pre treatment. However,  after I got assurance from Rachel(owner of Original Moxie) that, my hair wouldn't suffer in any way, I went ahead and left the product in. After co washing, I rinse, deep condition, and rinse again. Right before steaming I do my moisture routine. Which consists of rubbing Scurl on my strands, topped with a thick creamy leave in conditioner. Next I took small amounts of Emollience, and rubbed it on my ends, and then sat under my standing steamer. After ten minutes, I stop steaming and sealed my strands with Original Moxie Emollience. No surprise my hair loved it! Emollience  is made up of a million(jk) oils, and it really kept my hair moisturized. It's one of the best moisturizers/sealant I have used. However, that is because I have found the best way to layer my hair with productsI "infuse" every product into my strands to achieve great results. Still not ready to buy? Well Original Moxie offers you the opportunity to try Emollience, if you are unsure about buying. Head on over to the website now, and grab yourself a trial size. All photos in this post were taken without flash. Look at the deep dark, curls at the ends of my mini twist. Emollience is the truth!!!
