Once a week I mentioned doing a pre poo to my hair. It just occurred to me that some of you may not know what a pre poo is. A pre poo can be done many different ways (there is no real wrong or right way). The common thing used in a pre poo is oil. You can chose any oil that agrees with your hair. I usually use Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, or my bottle of Hot Six Oil. Before doing my pre poo, I unravel my plats or twist. Next I rubbed Olive Oil all over my scalp. Then I rub the same oil on my strands. Lastly, I rub some oil on my ends, lately I have been using Coconut Oil.  Also I saturate my hair with a some deep conditioner. To me the most important part of the pre po, is letting the oils sit in my hair under a plastic shower cap for a long period of time. Usually I do my pre poo before bed, so it sits for 7-8 hours. The one negative with this is, my pillows and sheets sometimes suffer.

When I am in a rush, I pre poo before spin class, and let my natural heat and sweat do it's work.  I started doing a pre poo, at the beginning of this experiment. I am not sure if it's helping my hair grow or not, but so many long hair naturals suggest it, so I jumped on the bandwagon.

Here is MopTop Maven, one of my favorite naturals on YouTube demonstrating how to pre poo.

2012 Update: I still do a pre poo, as often as I can, but these days I do a honey pre poo.
